'Leading in a new geopolitical reality'
Geopolitical tensions are not only high on the public agenda - they have become a critical strategic issue in the boardroom.
Executives can no longer afford to treat geopolitics as an external factor. Current developments demand explicit and structured environmental analysis as an integral part of strategic decision-making.
In this inspirational session, we will discuss what this means for sectors, value chains, and investment decisions - why no sector can afford to ignore this any longer.
"No sector is doing well in this reality. Every sector faces fundamental choices."
Rob de Wijk

Speakers
Prof. Dr. Rob de Wijk on geopolitical due diligence
Security expert Rob de Wijk delivers a sharp strategic exposé on how geopolitical tensions, the fragmentation of power blocs, and disruptions in commodity and goods flows are undermining the foundations of existing business strategies.
Not an abstract worldview, but a reality check - a wake-up call - for executives: many strategies are still based on assumptions that are no longer tenable.
Central question
As an executive, what do you need to do differently starting tomorrow to survive internationally in this rapidly changing world?
Prof. Dr. Jeroen Veldman on upholding European governance values
The current geopolitical context is driving increasing politicization and regionalization, raising fundamental questions about core concepts of corporate governance.
Jeroen Veldman, chair of the Nyenrode Corporate Governance Institute, advocates for Europe to continue charting its own course, grounded in multilateralism and the rule of law. In doing so, we must not lose sight of checks and balances, the stakeholder principle, and actively engaging with the long-term consequences of externalities.
Central question
Which corporate governance principles provide executives with a foothold in a rapidly changing world?

About the 'Haringpartij'
Since 1961, the 'Stichting Hollandse Haringpartij' (Dutch Herring Foundation) has brought together guests from business, government, and the arts and culture sector to celebrate the arrival of the King's Herring during the 'Nationale Haringpartij' (National Herring Party).
This oldest informal communication and networking event in the Netherlands takes place in the gardens of Nyenrode Castle. The finest fish vendors and the castle provide a magnificent ambiance to bring people together and create connections.
Our 'Vrienden van de Haring' (Friends of the Herring), their guests, the best fish specialists from across the Netherlands, the sultry summer evening music, and the always relaxed atmosphere complete the 'Nationale Haringpartij' each year. Of course, the delicious full-fat herring, carefully prepared by our top fish vendors, is an essential part of the celebration.
